Etribe was created in 1995 as a way for a group of friends to practice web design. There was a sense of an electronically linked tribe of people working together to make a fun and interesting future. The envisioned future had a green look, including bicycles, telecommuting, peaceful plenitude and happiness for everyone.
Tribe refers to the tripartite nature of every being and system:
the positive, negative, and neutral; or active, passive, and mediating parts, together forming a functional whole.
